thats like saying that there are good things about weapons research, one chief one is the internet.
medical advances over the last 100 years have come about from having access to cheap abundant energy in the form of oil. before oil, civilisations medicine practitioners had no idea, and wiped out the competition (who actually did do some good for people) during the witch-hunts.
you could say that our good health care now is in spite of civilisation, not because of it, and many people in the so called richer countries dont have access to it anyway.

but, no one is saying we can change the past. we have used oil, civilisation has used oil to rape the planet, and civilisation is playing out its endgame now, with peak oil, climate change and the simple fact that there arent enough people or resources left outside of this pyramid selling scheme to keep it growing. without growth is will fail, soon.

if we act quickly to save what we can from civilisations crash, we may see a society that looks a bit like cuba (which exports doctors), if we cling to the lies that we have been fed, and continue tolerating heirarchies (in the hope that we may move up that heirarchy) and injustice, profit-motives, wage slavery and the likes, we are likely to be living soon in a state resembling north korea, or the worst of medieval feudalism.

we are at a crux in history, where things are changing. our actions and decisions now might make a huge difference to the lives of humans for the next few generations at least.

we'd like to see the good things salvaged - but for that to happen we have to start dismantling the bad things, or their collapse will take the whole lot with them.

There are good things about civilization, and the chief one is medical care. I reckon life would be a lot poxier without it. I recently did my back in and the chiro did a wonderful job of treating it. He had to be trained, and he had to go to uni for that.

As for highways, working all day, never seeing your family...that can go.
